my story
A STORYTELLER BY NATURE, MY COPYWRITING TAKES YOUR CLIENTS ON AN EMOTIONAL JOURNEY
I am a business-minded woman. Born and raised in Dubbo NSW, I have been surrounded by small business my entire life.
My parents own Uncle Pete’s Toys in Dubbo which is where much of my passion for entrepreneurship is grounded. As soon as I was old enough to do so, you would find me serving customers at the toy shop. With the gift of the gab and a passion for visual merchandising, I worked alongside Dad for 15 years.
After completing my schooling locally at St. John’s College in Dubbo, I ventured off to Sydney to pursue my first degree – A Bachelor of Commerce (Services Marketing) – Tourism and Hospitality with a Third Major in Management.
While studying full time at UNSW, I also worked full-time and was a keen netball umpire – convening for Randwick Netball Association.
I graduated my first degree with Distinction before embarking on a second degree – Honours in Marketing. Here, I authored a thesis exploring survival rates among small business. I was inquisitive about what set the surviving businesses apart from those that failed.
My thesis titled “Survival of the Fittest – What determines small business success” is where my passion for all things writing was truly discovered. My Honours supervisor was encouraging of my writing; she would call my phrases “Felicityisms.”
I knew from this that writing was on the cards for a career. If only I could decide on a niche...
OVERCOMING Illness
A STORY OF RESILIENCE AND UNLOCKING POTENTIAL WITH THE CREATIVE MARKETING CO.
After graduating from my second degree, I relocated to Bathurst, NSW to lecture Marketing with Charles Sturt University (CSU). Teaching Marketing Fundamentals and Brand Management, I loved connecting with my students both in the classroom and virtually.
In 2016, I became unwell with my bipolar disorder and returned home to Dubbo to get well soon. My illness overtook me and for years I struggled to come to terms with my diagnosis. I rapidly cycled through jobs during this period; taking on anything my mind could do. From a barista to a pharmacist assistant and so much in between, I learnt the importance of staying well.
In 2020, I had come through the other side of my illness. Feeling empowered once more, I quit my then Disability Support job to pursue The Creative Marketing Co.
The Creative Marketing Co is my “other baby.” I am deeply connected to my business, and it brings me immense joy to now be able to do what I love daily.
I specialise in creative writing. A storyteller with too much to say, I am passionate about well-crafted copy.
I pride myself on delivering words which resonate; that compel an audience to act.
I promise to create copy that converts; that leaves readers lingering a little longer and thinking about your offering long after they have scrolled on.
